About Us

Humble beginnings are at the foundation of what we know Country Aire Natural Foods as today.

The owners, John and Robyn (Johnson) Miletich met here on the Olympic Peninsula. Robyn had just moved back home from Portland, OR and had a dream of opening a Natural Foods store of her own. John, who had been working in Olympic National Park, was also a knowledgeable and capable carpenter. After meeting the woman of his dreams, he was certainly ready to embark on the adventure of building a store with her.

Together they found the resources needed to obtain thier first building, the material needed to renovate it, the product to fill it and the small staff (including Robyn's mother Eloise) to run it. 

Country Aire, board by board, started to take form and at the impressively young age of just 24, Robyn opened her doors to the community on July 24th, 1975.

In the years to come, they worked tirelessly to make Robyn's vision a reality and to distinguish thier business as unique, welcoming and above all; a place where holistic living was not only emphasized, but attainable for their customers. 

​

The business grew. Product was being packed onto the shelves and in every nook and cranny of the establishment. Parking became more of a hassle for customers, requests for new products kept coming in, tourists coming to the area continued to discover the store making it more crowded for the locals. It was simply time to expand. 

​

So, in 2011 they did just that. John and Robyn once again took on a huge undertaking by building a bigger and arguably better version of what they had created. They purchased another building in downtown Port Angeles just blocks from their original location.

After a solid year of renovation on the building, taking it from a bland department store to a vivid and one-of-a-kind Natural Foods Market, they once again opened their doors to the community on May 1st, 2012.
